About University of Sheffield
The University of Sheffield was founded in 1879 as Firth College. Sheffield is a research university in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, currently enrolling approximately 25,000 students from approximately 140 countries. Courses are offered in five faculties and their corresponding departments. Sheffield is a member of the Russell Group of elite research-intensive universities in the UK. It is also a top 100 university according to the 2022 QS World University Rankings. Innovation and social change characterize research at Sheffield. The university first pioneered the medical use of penicillin in his 1930s, and more recently researchers developed a life-saving drug to treat ovarian and breast cancer. Sheffield’s job fair, the largest in the region, helps students network and interact with employers.
