Located in the East Midlands, the University of Leicester currently has approximately 20,000 students, 1,500 of whom are international students from over 80 countries. The University of Leicester is one of the UK’s fastest growing universities and is currently undertaking a £300 million campus redevelopment programme. The University of Leicester was named ‘University of the Year’ by The Times in 2008, and in 2014 she came in second in the same category.
Leicester is known for its research strengths and has been thrust into the international limelight with the recent discovery of the remains of Richard III by its archaeological department. The Faculty of Physics and Astronomy is home to Europe’s largest university space research facility, and the Faculty of Museum Studies is one of the UK’s leading research departments, conducting the highest level of research in British museum studies.
