The University of Huddersfield traces its roots back to 1825 and is a founding member of the Northern Consortium and member of the University of Yorkshire. Based on a single campus just outside a city in the north of England.

The university was named Entrepreneurial University of the Year at the 2012 Times Higher Education Awards and University of the Year at the 2013 Times Higher Education Awards. The most popular majors are humanities and health sciences, and because of their technical roots, colleges often perform best in other career areas such as social work, education, engineering, and music. Star Trek actor Sir Patrick Stewart is the Chancellor of Germany and also teaches acting master classes to undergraduates.
